Running for a Good CauseOrem residents have an opportunity to help make a difference for Tere Parra, the young woman from Mexico who was injured in a fall in Provo Canyon at the beginning of the month. Tere and her friends were playing a game in Big Springs Park when she slipped and fell 20 feet from the tree she had climbed. Her friends have organized a series of fundraisers in Orem and Provo to help with medical expenses. The fundraising events will begin with a dance on July 13 at Provo City Special Events Center, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5. The following day, July 14 at 8 a.m., a 5K race will be held at Lakeridge Junior High in Orem. A barbeque will be held afterwards. Cost is $20 for the race and $10 for the barbecue. You can register for these events by visiting the fundraiser website. Though Tere is not one of our own, this is a great opportunity for us to show the power of community support. If you like to dance, run, and eat, or you just want to help a young woman in need, attend these events on July 13-14.
